I’ve been thinking a lot about this website lately. Mostly because, for the past few weeks, I’ve basically been living inside it. And it’s funny because, when I started, I knew what I wanted to make. At least I thought I did.
I wanted a place to put my work.
But then I started building it, and the more I built, the more things started finding their way in. Old drawings. Photos. Things from university. Bands I played in. Prints I designed for clothes. Places where I worked. Trips. Things I made with Ariana. My daughters. Books. Characters. Podcasts. Things I didn’t even remember I still had. At some point I was looking at the About page and realized I was basically looking at my whole life spread across that huge green board. And it was strange, because I started seeing connections there that maybe I had never really noticed before.
There’s a drawing I made as a kid on the same board as a book I made in 2026. There are things I made professionally sitting next to things I made simply because I wanted to. There are drawings by Magali next to drawings I made decades before she even existed. There’s a band. There’s a food truck. There are books. There’s a podcast. There are clothes. There are a bunch of stupid ideas that ended up becoming something, and probably a few stupid ideas that are still just stupid ideas. And somehow, when I put everything together, it made sense.
I think that surprised me. Because for a long time I felt like I did too many different things. Every time someone asked me what I did, I had to choose an answer.
Designer, I guess.
But then where do the books fit? And the writing? And Camada Zero? And all the other things I keep coming up with because apparently I’m incapable of just sitting still and leaving an idea alone?
I think that’s why building Campo Somus ended up becoming so important to me. I finally have somewhere to put all of it. And the funny thing is, I didn’t understand that when I started making the website.
I understood it as I was making it.
I think that’s also why I spent so much time making all these tiny little things that almost nobody will probably ever notice. There are things hidden behind photographs. Old drawings. Notes. Dates. Little pieces of stories that probably only mean something to me. And that’s okay. I know most people will never find everything, and they don’t need to. I know it’s there. Maybe that’s enough.
Now I’m almost done with the website. There are still things to do, obviously, because there are always things to do. And today I’m sitting here thinking about what the first entry in this journal should be. Apparently, this is it.
I still have no real idea what I’m going to write here.
Probably things I’m making. Things I’m thinking about. Things that happened while I was making something else. Maybe things that have absolutely nothing to do with any of that. We’ll see. For now, I think I just wanted to record this moment.
I spent years trying to understand where all these different parts of me fit. And somehow I ended up building a place big enough to hold all of them. And that feels good.
Anyway.
Back to work.
